Visited my mum today and noticed the pressure dial on her Worcester Bosch boiler was reading 3.5 bar, which seems higher than I thought was recommended. I happen to have the same boiler, so am interested to know 1 how do you reduce the pressure (I know how to increase it)? 2 Does it incurr any damage running at this higher pressure?

Its unlikely the 2 bar pressure was causing your heating not to come on. By opening the pressure releif valve to drain some water means it is probably now constantly letting water out as they never re-seal properly. It will probably need replacing. To top the system up you need to locate your filling loop. usually just under the boiler.

EDIT I would take issue with the comment that the hot pressure is academic and the gauge is only to cold fill correctly. hi 1st thing if the pressure gets high only when the boiler is working ie fired up then the fault could be with the expansion vessel or it could be a partial blockage either way i would get it looked at just incase because its not working the way it should. 2nd thing with the rad need constant bleeding especially as often as you're sayin sounds like a small leak and air getting into the system

low water pressure in worcester Bosch combi boiler? i keep having to add water via loop to my w-b 350 combi boiler with increasing frequency. the pressure falls from 1.5 to 2 bar to below 0.5 bar on a daily basis and there does not seem to be an obvious leak-checked under downstairs floorboards- and pressure relief valve pipe and system drain pipe appear to be dry.
